Leader: At the place they called The Skull, they nailed Jesus to the Cross. Soldiers carried out the brutal physical act, but it was, in fact, all of humanity that nailed him to the cross.
For had it not been that all men and women are sinners in need
of redemption, he would not have been called upon by his Father
to suffer so.
His pain was excruciating, but he persevered to the end.
Even there, in utter darkness and suffering, the Holy Spirit was
present, strengthening Jesus, the dying Lord.
Leader: Lord Jesus, you stretched out your arms to accept pain
and suffering that few men or women would be able to endure,
in order that your saving embrace might envelope all people.
May all people accept your embrace, as well as the comfort of the
Holy Spirit, and walk with you through death into eternity.
All: Amen
