Whenever any of us has a new grand baby to celebrate, or a new foster child, or a new baby of our own, we bring a photo of the little one we wish to honor, and post it on the bulletin board.
Under that picture an envelope is hung, so that members of the congregation can drop in a dollar. It doesn't take us very long to fill up the envelope, which then provides the $45.00 it takes to provide a safe delivery to a high-risk mom in Haiti. We are committed to the fact that we are all one in Christ, and that, therefore, the lives of Haitian babies are as important as our own children's lives are. So we celebrate them all.
This is a simple act of thanksgiving and gratitude for our children, and it gives other moms and babies a safe delivery as well!
